This imagery is orthophoto mosaics of 1:24,000 scale color infrared aerial photography of a 3 to 4 mile wide corridor of the Lower Yellowstone River from the boundary of Park County to the eastern border of Montana. This imagery was developed by the Montana Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to support resource inventory and monitoring, and to aid the planning efforts of the Yellowstone River Conservation District Council. The imagery is provided by county and each county file is comprised of images mosaiced and compressed using an image compression technology called MrSid. MrSid files can be used in GIS programs like ArcView or viewed with a standalone or browser plug-in available from the link above. The files are quite large, file sizes are listed, as well as links to metadata for each file. All files are in UTM (zones 12 and 13), NAD 83 coordinates and also provided in Montana Stateplane NAD 83.. The download is a Winzip file containing the SID file, the world file, and the metadata for the particular county. The physical feature files represent point and linear physical features found along the river during the Physical Feature Inventory. The shapefiles are provided in two projections (either UTM or MT Stateplane -SPC) for your convenience.
