| The Mountain snow water
equivalent map is derived from individual snow course and SNOTEL
site data. The snowpack is measured as to the amount of water the
snowpack contains and is expressed as percent of average.
Snowpack maps are available January 1 through June 1.
National protocols for
watershed mapping differentiate hydrologic units at four levels:
The Basin (1:500,000); Sub-basin (1:250,000); Watershed (1:100,000)
and Sub-watershed (1:24,000) scales. Average percentages of snow
water equivalents are displayed here at the sub-basin level. Displays
at the watershed level will be provided in future months.
The snow water equivalent
data are available in three formats; two image formats, PDF and
JPEG, and a text file which describes and lists the data for the
month. To view the PDF images you need to download a copy
of Adobe Acrobat Reader (Microsoft
Windows version). Download here - Adobe
Acrobat Reader.
