New Cadastral, Water Rights, and GWIC Water Wells layers.

NRIS updated three of our more popular layers this week.

The Cadastral data available through the Digital Atlas and the GIS Data Bundler was updated on July 14 for the first time since December.

For the most up-to-date cadastral information, please use the cadastral viewer at http://gis.mt.gov or look for the downloadable data at the Base Map Service Center.

The Water Rights data is updated every week, but the map locations in the Water Rights Query System and GIS data available through the Digital Atlas and the GIS Data Bundler are now based on more accurate public land survey section information from the BLM Geographic Coordinate Database.  These water right locations are now managed by DNRC rather than NRIS.  Statewide water rights GIS shapefiles are now available at ftp://nris.mt.gov/dnrc.

We received our annual update of the GWIC water wells this week.  These layers are available through the Atlas and the Bundler and at http://nris.mt.gov/nsdi/nris/shape/gwicwells.zip.
