The Natural Resource Information System of the Montana State Library is pleased to present this GIS data layer access page resource to the wildfire response community. All layers shown on this page are Statewide coverages (unless otherwise specified). All layers are available in the MT State Plane NAD 83 projection. Some layers are available in UTM, NAD 27 coordinates. ALL layers are in meters.

• The NRIS TopoFinder allows a variety of searches to find and display USGS topographic map images. It also provides a Lat/Long Conversion tool that can compute conversions between degrees, minutes, seconds; degrees decimal minutes; and decimal degrees.
• The NRIS Thematic Mapper is a powerful GIS application which allows spatial data query, reporting, and mapping using nothing more than your web browser. The Mapper can also be used to extract shapefiles, on the fly, for your area and theme of interest.

The National Center for Landscape Fire Analysis also has an on-line application for viewing and downloading fire data.
